#7 The 30 Best Happy Hours in Williamsburg & Greenpoint
Plus, some delicious meals I’ve made recently
Hello, hello! I slowed down the past few weeks, savoring visits from long distance friends and recovering from being under the weather. Finally, I’m settling back into routine.
I had yet another incredible meal at Huda last Saturday night, further solidifying it as one of my favorite restaurants that I will gladly gush about. For $40 each, four of us shared the smashed cucumbers with labneh, pita, freekeh salad, carrot and zucchini salad, rakakat (crispy filo dough stuffed with Syrian cheese + a side of Muhammara), macarona bil toum (gnudi pasta in lemony garlic sauce), a kettle of mint tea, and booza (peach ice cream with pistachio butter). It’s a great candlelit hideaway, and the service is always super attentive.

The past few weeks have also consisted of many wholesome days experimenting in the kitchen. Some of my favorite concoctions have included:
Yet another arugula salad iteration: Arugula topped with chopped cucumber, radish, green onion, a few sprigs of mint and dill, lightly blanched green beans, shaved apple, shaved cheddar, chopped candied pecans, and a lemony whole grain mustard and honey vinaigrette. Yes, that sounds like too many ingredients, but I promise they’re all necessary and marry together perfectly.
An heirloom tomato polenta breakfast bowl: I swiped the bottom of a bowl with some herby ricotta (I just mixed some jarred pesto into a few spoonfuls of ricotta), layered it with pan-fried polenta slices (from Trader Joe’s), slices of heirloom tomatoes marinated in a bit of red wine vinegar, lemon butter sauteed radishes, green onion, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. These seemingly random ingredients really pulled through to be a delicious, unique brekky on yet ANOTHER gray, misty morning.
A salmon and herby rice bowl: I wanted to use some leftover basmati rice from Indian takeout, so I reheated it and mixed in some peas, radish, dill, Castelvetrano olives, and chopped pistachios. Kept the dressing v simple with just olive oil, salt, and pepper. Topped it with dijon balsamic marinated salmon, and it was very delicious.

During the pockets of sunshine here and there over the past few weeks, I’ve been capitalizing on happy hours. I got tired of researching deals from scratch over and over again, so I finally compiled a list of some of the best happy hours in my neighborhood. Save this list for your next discounted drink and snack!
